Vegan Middle Eastern Food in Milwaukee
Milwaukee has a bunch of great Middle Eastern food--buffets, fancy food, falafel stands and food trucks--there are so many great vegan options.
Casablanca - All vegetarian middle eastern lunch buffet. Ask your server what isn't vegan, because most of it is. Note: desserts usually contain honey. Also, several fancier middle eastern vegan options for when it's not lunch time. But lunch is best...be prepared to be full!
Hello Falafel - Opened in late spring of 2016, this all-vegetarian restaurant specializes in falafel dishes and fresh juices. Most of their menu can be made vegan and is labeled as such. Located in the Bay View neighborhood.
PitaBros - They used to have a food truck, but now they have an actual restaurant. Create your own falafel sandwich--steer clear of the tahini (last I checked it wasn't vegan), but they can usually advise you on what toppings you can choose from. Their falafel is outstanding!
Shahrazad - Many vegan options as well as a daily lunch buffet at this East-Side Middle Eastern restaurant. Try the shakshookah or their incredible falafel. Reasonable prices too!
Aladdin - Located in the Milwaukee Public Market, you'll find standard lunch favorites, along with a deli case to purchase all the hummus you want. In addition, they sell other middle eastern groceries.
Pita Pit - With three locations in the Milwaukee area, they offer a build your own pita with falafel, black bean patties, hummus and lots of veggies.
Naf Naf Grill - This is a chain with a location in Brookfield. They have build your own sandwiches with falafel and lots of toppings.
Sababa - A newer middle eastern cafe in downtown Milwaukee. I haven't been there yet, but they have the usual suspects of falafel, hummus, baba ganoush and some other seemingly vegan items. If you visit, report back!
Shi Chai - A hookah bar and cafe located on Center Street, I hear their "Mr. Vegan" sandwich is amazing!
Apollo Cafe - Located on Brady Street and open until 3am Thurs-Sat, you can get your fix of hummus, falafel or veggie dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves) even after bar close!
