Vegan-Friendly Mexican Restaurants
There are some great Mexican restaurants in the Milwaukee area offering vegan options. You can probably create a vegan meal at other Mexican restaurants in town as well--be sure to check for lard in beans and sometimes even tortillas.
Cafe Corazon - Mexican restaurant with locations in Riverwest and Bay View with several vegan options. They have soy chorizo as well as beans, tofu and grilled vegetables. Very tasty and vegan-friendly! Love this place :)
BelAir Cantina - They offer several vegan options for tacos or burritos, but make sure to ask for them to be vegan so they don't add crema or give you the "wrong beans." They also have an extensive tequila menu, along with specialty margaritas and other drinks. There are now locations on the East Side, Wauwatosa and Oak Creek as well!
Blue Bat Taqueria - Vegetarian options are marked clearly and several of them can be made vegan including the cauliflower curry and oyster mushroom tacos or bowls. Ask your server for details!
Taco Moto - Located at Boone & Crockett bar, they offer some vegan taco options for late night eats. (Formerly Gypsy Taco).
Botanas II - Located on Howard Avenue in the south Bay View area, they have "safe" beans and rice and veggies that can go into tacos, salads or fajitas. Just tell your server that you're vegan and to leave off any cheese or cream. I hear their margaritas are excellent too!
Mis Suenos - They have a separate Vegetarian section of their menu that could be altered (no cheese or sour cream) to accommodate a vegan option.
Hector's - Wauwatosa. Several vegan enchiladas available if modified. Ask your server about vegan options.
