Vegan Fast Food in Milwaukee
Sometimes you need to get some food while you're on the road or in a hurry. Milwaukee has several vegan fast-food options to suit a variety of tastes.
QDoba - Similar to Chipotle in their mexican food offerings, there are several Qdobas around the city. I like their naked burritos :) Both their black beans and pinto beans are vegetarian and so is their tortilla soup. They offer several ways to combine your favorite ingredients to make a meal (tacos, burritos, salads, etc.) Check out their nutrition page for details.
Noodles & Company - Noodles offers several vegan dishes and you can add organic tofu to anything. Find their locations in Milwaukee here.
Pita Pit - With three locations in the Milwaukee area, they offer a build your own pita with falafel, black bean patties, hummus and lots of veggies.
Subway - With tons of locations across the city, you can always fall back on Subway for a quick Veggie Delite sandwich. Make sure to choose the Italian bread--the wheat contains honey and there are others that obviously contain cheese. Get the sandwich without cheese and then pile on all your favorite vegetables. Top with mustard or oil and vinegar to make it interesting. Their vegetable patty is not vegan. Here is their nutrition/allergen chart and their location finder.
Chipotle - There are a few of these in the city (check their site for your closest location). I love getting the veggie burrito bowl and piling on black beans, fajita veggies, pico and guac. Sofritas is now available in our area (a delicious tofu protein option for any tacos/burritos/bowls). Here is a link to their nutritional info.
Taco Bell - There's always a Taco Bell around somewhere and they offer a lot of vegan options--see this post from the company on how to modify menu items to make them vegan. I like the bean burrito without cheese or the 7-Layer burrito without sour cream or cheese.
Cousin's Subs - Their Garden Sub without provolone or mayo is vegan (their italian bread is vegan)--it has lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers and onions. Maybe you can bring some Tofurkey along with you and add it on for a more hearty sandwich :) Find a location here.
Papa John's - You may find yourself having to order "mainstream" pizza and this is one way to go. Their original crust, tomato sauce and even that garlic dipping sauce is all vegan. There are several locations in the Milwaukee area that deliver and you can even order online.
Burger King - They offer Impossible Whoppers--ask for no cheese and no mayo and you're set. If you prefer, you can have them microwave the burger if you don't want it cooked on the same grill as the meat patties. I also heard their french toast sticks are vegan and I'm waiting for an excuse to eat fast food for breakfast. Their hash browns, maple and brown sugar oatmeal and dutch apple pie are also vegan!
Here's a great article published in November of 2015 by OneGreenPlanet that has some additional vegan fast food suggestions.
