![]() I have to admit--my favorite food has always been pizza. When I initially became vegan many years ago, there were extremely limited options available and I never thought I'd get to enjoy pizza the way I used to. All that has changed in the past few years--vegan pizza can be found at many different restaurants across Milwaukee. Those that offer vegan cheese include Classic Slice, Marchese's Olive Pit, Transfer, Via Downer, Mama DeMarini's and Whole Foods. Other places like Pizza Shuttle and Crisp offer excellent cheese-free options. So, come celebrate the wonder of vegan pizza on Saturday January 29th. There will be events held all over the country. Check out the Vegan Pizza Day site for general information. The Milwaukee celebration will take place at Transfer Pizzaria at 8pm on Jan 29. Check out the event listing on Facebook and share with your friends. Arrive right at 8pm to score a table with fellow Milwaukee vegans and share a pizza or two. The January Milwaukee Vegan Meetup will be on Saturday January 8th at Noon at Hue Vietnamese Restaurant in Bay View on Kinnickinnic Avenue. This restaurant opened earlier in 2010 and is now regularly filled to capacity on weekends because of their delicious take on Vietnamese culinary creations. They have added several vegan options over time, all which are very tasty. You can see a photo of one of my meals there on our Facebook profile. This has become one of my favorite local restaurants and I definitely think it's worth a try if you haven't yet. Check out the Meetup site for more info and to sign-up!
Milwaukee Vegans--this is your chance to support a great vegan company from Chicago that's reaching out to Milwaukee because us vegans have been so vocal about wanting a vegan food truck here in town. Here are the current stops we know about:
1pm - Prospect & North 1:30pm - Brady Street between Farwell & Humboldt 2pm - Kinnickinnic and Potter in Bay View They want you to Tweet or Facebook or call or text (312 857 4393) them with other places you want them to come. Could they be more flexible?? Let's do this! By the way, their menu looks delicious! If you're still not convinced, check out Stephanie's blog for more details and delicious photos! Hope to see you there! The Ste Martaen vegan food truck (based out of Chicago) will be coming to Milwaukee this Saturday December 18th starting around 1pm. More details to come soon on location. If you have ideas on where they should go, feel free to share them here or contact them on Facebook or Twitter. Let's do our best to show them that Milwaukee would LOVE a vegan food truck here all the time! :-)
