A reader of my site recently brought to my attention that County Clare Irish Pub had a fairly extensive separate vegetarian menu. It had been years since I'd been there because all they had back then was one veggie burger option, which was good, but you know...not that exciting.



So, Kim (coordinator of the meetups) has checked in with them and determined that many of these options can be made vegan as well and therefore set up the Februrary Meetup on Feb 5th at Noon.

I visited last night with family and had the Shepherd's pie and it was very good--and I'm not usually a big fan of Shepherd's pies. I think the waitress we had was kind of new to the whole vegan thing, because she only pointed out two vegan options (the obvious ones) for me when I asked, but Kim has talked to them and identified many entrees that can be adjusted easily to be vegan, so I can't wait to try something different.

I love how these meetups and all of your participation in social media and in talking to restaurants is really showing our local establishments that there is a significant number of hungry vegans in this city and it's in their best interest to create some options for us. I always tell people--vegans are a loyal bunch--once they find vegan options they enjoy somewhere they'll be back again and again. :-)
